Role Overview
Draper & Dash is seeking a passionate, high-energy and motivated analytics and delivery professional with multi-discipline Private Sector, Public Sector and healthcare analytics capabilities. Customer, success and experience is the heart of every decision we make. Our Data Scientists are responsible for applying scientific methodology, statistical inference and machine learning models to drive business decisions. They have strong backgrounds in statistics, applied mathematics, and computer science with the ability to write clean and operationalisable code. They are also creative, inquisitive and exceptional communicators with an aptitude for uncovering hidden patterns and know how to get the most out of the product by making the right decisions with the data.
We’re looking for a hands on, passionate Data person to Head our Data Science and solutions team. You will lead by example in the delivery of crucial data-driven insights for our customers; servicing the internal predictive algorithms and insights needs of the wider business; and discovering new opportunities for innovative uses of our data. Reporting to the CTO you will take charge of the existing team and responsibility for data science and solutions across the whole of D&D. You will drive a data culture in the wider organisation and be the authority for all things data.
Responsibilities:
- Expertise in the application of a wide range of supervised and unsupervised machine learning techniques such as classification (e.g. Random Forests, Support Vector Machines), regression (e.g. Ridge regression, Lasso), dimensionality reduction (e.g. Principal Components Analysis, t-SNE) and clustering (e.g. KMeans, Hierarchical Clustering).
- Highly developed analytical skills, incorporating an understanding of the potential of software packages and their usage such R and Python.
- Experience of providing subject matter expertise and guidance to support in the development of clear, specific customer service requirements, managing scope changes to ensure successful project delivery.
- Experience collaborating and building relationships across organisational boundaries through complex service provision.
- In-depth knowledge and experience of applying relevant professional standards, e.g. Data Protection Act, Freedom of Information Act, UK Statistics Authority Code of Practice to safeguard the appropriate use of statistics.
- Education to a Master’s degree level in a numerate discipline, or an equivalent level of knowledge.
Your main responsibilities:
- Own the delivery for data science across the business
- Develop and enhance the data architecture in partnership with Engineering and Product
- Management of the data science team
- Provide Data analytics services for Customer Success, Sales, UX and Product teams
- Work collaboratively with Product to deliver customer insights within the platform
To be successful:
- You will have 5 years of healthcare NHS experience
- You will LOVE data with an insatiable thirst for generating actionable insights for both internal and customer use
- Be a credible data person with expertise in implementing data strategies in high growth tech businesses
- A motivational, inspiring and supportive leader who can get the best out of their team and be hands on with the data.
- A clear communicator who is as able to analyse millions of rows of data and extract the key insights needed by your customers.
- Be collaborative and know how to delicately balance the competing needs of Product, service and innovation
General
- The post holder may be required to undertake other duties not specified in this job description, but within the general scope of the post as determined by the Draper & Dash Senior management team.
- The post holder may be required to participate in a D&D on-call rota resulting in an occasional requirement to work out of hours.
- Work on a number of client sites from time to time playing a key role in identifying and bidding for new client business.
- Act as an ambassador to promote the Draper & Dash brand on each client site while maintaining confidentiality to protect the company’s Intellectual Property and clients’ interests.
